THE AFRICAN MUSIC SCHOOL

African Music School it’s a unique project, thanks to which children from the Central African Republic can develop their musical talents and build a positive vision of the future for yourself.

INSTRUMENTS INSTEAD OF WEAPONS

This is the slogan with which missionary Benedykt Pączka from the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor in the Central African Republic for 11 years, with the support of the Akeda Foundation and people of good will, has been running the African Music School for nearly a hundred children for eight years.
Located in the heart of Africa, in the Central African Republic, the country’s first and only music school is a refuge for the youngest. The building with a dozen or so simple classrooms and a kitchen serving meals is a shelter for students. Here, deprived of prospects and chances for a better future, instead of recruitment to rebel groups, they receive a shield of peace, brotherhood and hope. Thanks to school, instead of wasting their lives in conflicts they do not understand, they choose their own development.

KUQE and PATEC

It is a place for development, fulfilling dreams, learning to play instruments and using music programs. At the same time, it is a shelter from the difficult everyday life in a country that has experienced extreme poverty and armed conflicts and has been plunged into civil war for years. The Central African Republic is a country of constant anxiety about what will happen tomorrow.
The journey with the 2115 team was joined by Kuba Patecki, known on the Internet as PatecWariatec, who shows viewers the most unusual corners of the world on his YouTube channel.
For a week, Kuqe and Patec had the opportunity to participate in the life of the African Music School and learn about the complexity of the problems of the difficult reality of the Central African Republic.

SUCH A SMALL ME

The aim of Kuqe 2115 was to musically support the school’s students and use their skills to finalize the song „Taki mały ja”.
The makeshift working conditions did not prevent the creation of a heart-warming piece. Together they recorded choirs and drums, which you can hear now.
